Well It’s the first of August and we are still waiting to get our building permit.  Formworks assures us that we will get it but some building departments need more “education” than others.    Even though our house will far exceed all the building codes required for residential structures, the local engineer is requiring lots of extra “proof”  before we can proceed.  I guess the picture I gave them of a 78,000 lb. dozer  parked on top of one of these structures was not enough.  Anyway this has not stopped us from working on digging out the foundation and acquiring materials.  We just received 9,000 lbs. of rebar that will go into the shell of our house.
